The BGBF British Breeders Stakes got underway at Nottingham's Colwick Park stadium on Monday evening. The Cat 1 BGBF British Breeders’ Stakes is to be brought forward to March this year!  Previously held in the autumn, this prestigious competition, run at Nottingham, will this year start on 8 March, with the Final on 22 March, and will be supported by a Cat 3 Sprint for British Breds. A new graded series for British bred dogs at every track in the UK has been announced by the BGBF today. The aim of the BGBF has always been to support, encourage and reward British Breeding at all levels. When the BGBF committee were discussing how best to utilise our funds for 2020 we decided that we would very much like to support a competition which would see a high-profile final staged on Star Sports Bookmakers & ARC English Greyhound Derby Final evening at Nottingham's Colwick Park stadium. Another new competition for British Breds will be run at Nottingham with the final on Monday 23 November, the same night as the BGBF British Breeders’ Stakes, which, together with two more races for British Breds, means a fantastic night in store for supporters of British Bred greyhounds! The £1,500 plus trophy to the winner new BGBF Midlands Sprint will be a Cat 3, two round competition, for 18 dogs plus reserves, run over 305m. A fantastic evening’s racing at Newcastle showcased British Breeding on Thursday, with two BGBF Finals – the cat 2 BGBF Northern Maiden and the cat 3 BGBF Sprint – plus three additional supporting British Bred opens! Dundee June, a black June '28 bitch by Kinloch Brae out of Sevenofnine, romped home to take the prize after proving to be the most determined in the rather untidy Final of the BGBF Scurry at Harlow!
