Saving Sonic landed the spoils for trainer John Mullins in a fantastic buckle for the 2019 BGBF British Bred Marathon at Romford.

It was the Mark Wallis trained Passing Stranger who led into the opening bends from Saving Sonic who followed closely behind. Pulling away along the far side, the pair never saw another rival as they went toe to toe for 750m of the Romford circuit. Passing the finish line for the first time only a length or so separated the pair, moving along the far side Saving Sonic was edging ever closer. He showed great track craft to take the shortest route and hold his rails pitch round the final turns. Turning for home they were now neck and neck, and with the line fast approaching it was Saving Sonic, for the Saving Grace Syndicate, who prevailed by a head in a time of 46.82.

A brilliant race, worthy of the superb £1,000 and trophy to winning connections.
