Affleck Bolt became the dual BGBF St Leger Champion as he followed up last years success with another performance from the top drawer to land this year’s £4,000 to-the-winner renewal.

He was made to work every yard for the honours as the race unfolded into a real battle with the lead changing hands numerous times. Breaking well Affleck Bolt led early but was edged into the bend by Saving Mullpark, turning out the second bends and heading along the home straight for the first time Mullpark found himself being being passed by Shoot The Bolt and Affleck Bolt. Round bends three and four and heading along the far side Shoot The Bolt had stretched his lead to a couple lengths but with Affleck Bolt moving menacingly into second place. Turning for home Affleck Bolt was inching closer with every stride, drawing along side with the finish line in sight he got his head in front as he went on to win by half a length in 39.81.

The striking brindle son of Kinloch Brae and Ardrine Lunar is trained by Patrick Janssens and jointly owned by Patrick and John Porter. He is a real British Breeding success story, having been bred at their kennels by Patrick’s partner, Cheryl Tillett.
