There were some fantastic British Bred sprinters on show at Harlow on Wednesday evening where their class was re-affirmed with two track record equalling runs!
The first heat went the way of Dave Lee’s market outsider, Night Covers All (Tyrur Big Mike – Kerries Choice). It was a good buckle between him and Queen Dawn, who had led round the opening turns. Never giving in, Night Covers All rallied on the run in to score by a short head in 14.86.
Ballyoak Petal, trained by Dave Lewis at Poole, was quickly into stride in Heat Two as she held the classy Skyfall Venom at bay by three and quarter lengths. The black and white daughter of Slip The Lark and Ballyoak Alice crossed the line in a fantastic 14.66 which equals the track record set in 2014.
With the track record still rattling, Queen Izzy repeated the feat of Ballyoak Petal as she took Heat 3 in another sensational time of 14.66; also equalling the record. Trained by Liz McNair, this daughter of Leamaneigh Turbo and Wee Tiger Tots flashed from boxes to lead all the way from Trouble Maker, crossing the line two and three quarter lengths behind. Another sensational run.
The final heat saw Trapstyle Jet (Droopys Jet – Cairns Risky) get back in the winners enclosure as he led home Queen Anna by two and a quarter lengths in 14.72. Queen Anna can count herself unlucky as she went up with the traps but Trapstyle Jet, taking nothing away from him, was thoroughly professional as he led into the opening turns before running on to take the comfortable victory.
