Semi final one of the British Bred Scurry will unfortunately have to be re-run on Tuesday evening. With Salacres Flyer for Nottingham trainer Peter Harnden in a clear lead approaching the last turn and with Viking Jerry for Jim Hayton similarly in a clear second, the hare was stopped in the interests of safety. Michelle Brown’s local runner Signature Dancer had came off worst in first bend crowding and unfortunately took a tumble. Thankfully Dancer was soon back up and running, unfortunately that was towards the remaining runners and with safety always the paramount concern, the race was stopped.
Semi final two was taken by Paul Young’s Bubbly Yolo. A smart getaway saw Yolo take command from the outset and the result from that point on always looked to be a formality. Yolo ran out a 2 1/4 length victor from Jonathan Blencowe’s Westcot Norman in a time of 2603. Harrys Legend for Angie Kibble took the third and final qualifying slot for next Sunday’s final a further 2 1/2 lengths back. Lowgate Rudy and Salacres Barley came together at the second bend, doing neither greyhounds any good and they were immediately put out of contention.
