British Bred Sharpys Rocket’s handy win in a 500m A1 at Sheffield on Saturday brings the total number of races won by the litter he is from up to 100! The April ‘17 litter was bred by owner/ trainer John Sharp out of John Reidy’s open race winner Malls Pet and by 2014 Ladbrokes Gold Cup winner Viking Jack – and every one of the eight dogs and two bitches in the litter has contributed to the total, six of them having won Open races! The litter was reared by Jim Hayton in North Yorkshire, and schooled by John Sharp from an early age. Viking Jack (by Vans Escalade out of Heroes Last Lass – by Daves Mentor) is still standing at Stud with Jim Hayton. A great example of British breeding – and how satisfying must it be to see a litter you have bred turn out like this!
