BGBF Oaks First Round Review

Doncaster held the opening heats of the BGBF British Bred Oaks on Monday evening and we were treated to some fine performances from the ladies on a great evening’s racing.

The opening heat went the way of the Patrick Janssens trained, Affleck Dino. She produced a dominant front running performance to lead home Cu Sith Alsh and Roxhill Mystique, with Witton Whirlwind the final qualifier here.

The second heat saw a similar performance where the Tea For Tess justified heavy favouritism to run out a very impressive four length winner from Witton Thunder. Trained by Richard Devenish, Tea For Tess broke well from boxes and lay down the marker on time as she cruised to a four length victory in a very good 29.55. Watchhall Winnie and Witton Hurricane were the others qualifiers here.

The third and final heat went the way of this year’s Henlow Mini Derby Winner, Queen Adele, for trainer John Lambe. Another display of early pace here as she showed good speed up to lead at the opening turn. Stretching her advantage along the far side she was pulled back slightly by the chasing Witton Derecho who was a length and three quarters back in second.Queen Beyonce and Prime Time secure their Semi Final spots also.
