BGBF Puppy Cup Semi Final Review

BGBF Puppy Cup Semi Final Review

Tuesday evening saw the 2018 BGBF Puppy Cup semi finals take place at Sheffield and much like the first round, they didn’t disappoint.

The opening Semi Final went the way of Fearsome Ferigno (Adageo Bob-Santro Cruz) who overcame some early bumping out the traps to lead into the opening bend, closely followed by Commanche Storm (Storm Control – Atouchofvenus) and Porterhouse (Superior Product – Jazz Tilly). Opening up a clear lead along the far side Ferigno wasn’t for stopping and kept pulling away all the way to the line. The runner up spot went to Porterhouse who showed his strong running style as he passed Commanche Storm on the run, who in turn, held on for the final qualifying place in third. The winners time was 29.18.

The second Semi Final saw a display of early pace secure the race for Lostrigg Zeus (Tullymurry Act-Droopys Romy) as he led round the opening turn from Roxhill Mystique (Laughil Blake x Bleisce Charm) and Lowgate Rudy (Droopys Scolari-Bansha Mo). It was the latter who applied the pressure to the early leader along the far side but could make no impression as Zeus moved well out in front. Hitting the third turn Mystique moved up the inside to take over second place and attempt to close in on the leader. It proved in vain as Zeus stayed on well over the 500m and crossed the line in 29.11 by two and a half lengths.

The trap draw took place shortly after the conclusion of the second semi final and is as follows:

1 – Porterhouse. 2 – Fearsome Ferigno. 3 – Lostrigg Zeus. 4 – Lowgate Rudy. 5 – Roxhill Mystique. 6 – Commanche Storm.
